New books’ name confusing and lame

Matt Gardner aka 'iWaffles', is just your average geek -- besides the fact that he can crush ice with his bear hands and cook thirty-minute brownies in twenty-minutes. Matt prides himself on having a much, much faster "Ferrari" than another unnamed editor... and a laptop nicknamed "Bender" due to its appearance.

I agree - I thought it was a bit iffy when they said it yesterday but they must have thought it threw I guess (I know I want one!), we’ll be used to it by next year won’t we?
On that note they’re sure to update the iBook this year when Apple cross to intel aren’t they? and no doubt add Front Row + Apple Remote + iSight (right?) - what will they call it?
-MacBook Student?
-MacBook Cheap?
-The MacBook formerly known as iBook?
-MacBook Good-(but-we’ve-got-a-more-shiny-model-that-you-can’t-afford!)?
Any Ideas?.. Big G
How ‘bout the i-Guess-it’s-okay-but-not-as-good-as-the-MacBook?
Good one! - Just thought, what if they hop on the back of the windows xp name band-wagon (heaven forbid!) are we going to get an expensive ‘MacBook Pro’ and a less-expensive ‘MacBook Home’?.. Don’t do it Steve, don’t ruin the Jobs-Apple name by pulling a microsoft on us! aaahhh! (got a little panicked there..)

They won’t change the iBook just as they didn’t change the iMac… the i is what they use on all their consumer products. Whereas Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro… all the pro apps have the word, so it makes sense to have the word Pro somewhere in the machine’s name.
They’ll change the PowerMac G5 to something else… but god knows whats.
Wow! - You really have thought this threw! - Nice work! lol
Any ideas what they might call the New G5?..
Big G
How about a PROforma :D
Honestly, with a lame name like MacBook Pro I have no idea what they’ll end up calling the G5. MacPro CoreDuo or something annoyingly similar perhaps?
I just find it disappointing for a company like Apple where you can visit almost every page on their website and they’ve got a cool pun for something… sigh…
I’m liking that idea, I think that they could actualy call it that, has anyone else got any suggestions?
MacPro That-looks-too-much-like-a-PC?

Sorry, but iBook will go because Steve said “We want Mac in the name of our products.”
And did you see the slogan they kept quietly pushing “A new generation of Macs”
Apple is getting back to their core. It’s clear they are aiming to have two product lines. Macs and iPods. Simple, streamlines and leverages off their two iconic brands. no confusion for switchers. All Apple computers are now clearly Macs.
The name MacBook may be corny, but it’s a reason to get excited. The Mac is back and Apple are getting serious about it.
Now just pray they don’t rename the PowerMac, Mighty Mac! They woudn’t… would they?
I would go insane, I swear. Yes, its a reason to get excited, but iMacBook or MacBook Pro just sound convoluted and rubbish.
I’m sick of all the questions, I think I’ll just wait for the answers, I mean, why speculate?
iBook -> MacBook
PowerMac -> Macintosh Pro
Maybe someday
iMac -> Macintosh (I’m guessing 2009, when they have an anniversary for the original Mac)
I hope they stay with iBook, but that’s just wishful thinking.
I think Chris was right, we’re going to loose the iBook aren’t we, well I’m gonna keep this baby to remind me! (obviously that’s a little fib, if I ever save up enough to get one this thing’s hitting eBay).
Do you reccon Apple are reading this? haha - using us to get their product ideas?.. - Steve, if you’re out there change your policy to give MacTeens (ooh.. there’s a name for the new iBook - MacTeens or MacBook Teens.. nah that doesn’t work..)
I want more ideas people!
Has anyone out there had the chance to check out the new MacBook Pro in person yet? :D
